Royal Arch Mason

Membership

Under the English Constitution, the work of a Royal Arch Mason is practiced separately from the Craft and a candidate must be a Master Mason of a recognised Craft Lodge for at least four weeks.

Teachings

The ceremony requires the candidate to undertake the role of a Master Mason, and adds a transcendental dimension to the teachings of the Craft through a contemplation of man's spiritual nature.

Organisation

Assemblies of Brethren working as Royal Arch Masons are called 'Chapters', and members are formally known as 'Companions'. They work an Exaltation Ceremony to bring in new members, as well as Installation Ceremonies for the presiding officers of each Chapter.

Governing body

The work of Royal Arch Masons is administrated by the Supreme Grand Chapter which is based at Freemasons' Hall, London. The symbol or Grand Emblem of a Royal Arch Mason is the Triple Tau.
